This isn't a very bad option either. The Klipsh ProMedia 2.1's are by far the best "PC Speakers" that I know of for loudness purposes (and keeping somewhat clean). You definitely could do a lot worse, that's for sure (cough Logicrap cough cough). Sorry, had something in my throat there....

If you're going to buy used though, look over everything very closely. Make sure everything is working (amp, both speakers, the sub, the control pod). Look at up close pictures, make sure they're in good shape.

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 or M-Audio AV40 are good. Honestly those Logitech Z-2300s don't look bad but is the wattage rating correct? 40W RMS per satelite and 120W RMS subwoofer?

I have a ludicriously good computer audio setup. A pair of studio monitors + studio sub. Cost easily $550 before tax, I kinda regret spending that much.

No, that wattage rating is far from correct. The 2" drivers only handle 5w RMS. The "subwoofer" only takes 15w RMS. Not to mention the cost of the drivers themselves, and the amp. They may provide 200w RMS total, sure. But that'd be at like 15-20% THD. Whereas proper equipment will be 1% THD or less.

Other than the lack in bass response, I think you'll enjoy them.

Make sure you test the amp out nicely the first day though (oh and don't forget speaker wire, that's the one thing it doesn't come with). You might also want a longer 3.5mm to RCA adapter as well, the included one is pretty short.

My first amp came in, and the right channel wouldn't turn on till I hit about 1/2 volume. A quick call to PE got it all sorted out though, had a new one coming my way with a prepaid shipping label to return the defective one.

Otherwise then, the only other trouble you should see is the 3.5mm to RCA cable is a little short. A quick trip to Wal Mart and $5 will fix that (or Radio Crack, whatever). Just plug your computer in via 3.5mm to RCA (RCA on the back of the amp), connect the speakers with the included banana plugs (they have tiny screws on them to bolt onto the bared speaker wire), and plug the other end of the bared speaker wire into the speakers.

Seriously, the entire setup should take maybe 5 minutes.
