What is your maximum budget?
Anything below $500

What country are you in?
US

What will be the uses of this laptop?
School, Brief Gaming (mostly league of legends & Minecraft)

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you?
I would prefer an AMD processor other than that no preference

What screen size do you require?
10-15" only

What screen resolution do you require?
Don't care

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay?
New only

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet)
at least 4 hours

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings?
Minecraft and League of legends

What operating system do you need? (if any)
Windows 7

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.)
No preference, again

How much hard drive space do you need?
250GB or more

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.)
Webcam is nice, but not necessary

Is there anything else we need to know?
For school and brief gaming

Tiger have some deals on.

Can you push to a 15.4 screen, they are always cheaper.

The 15 inch range laptops tend to have the lowest prices (netbooks aren't counted as laptops). The HP2000z seems to be pretty solid as you can get it for under $400 from them with an E-350 APU (need to upgrade but still keeps the cost under $400 which should leave room for upgrades).

That's a nice all rounder. He can use it to play more gpu intensive games (than minecraft/lol) later on if he ever gets the urge as well.
