Hi All,

Just introducing myself, I'm new to overclocking, although not new to PC's or Gaming. I'm ordering some parts at the end of the month for a new gaming rig, and I've decided I want to OC it, so I'll be looking around and asking a few questions!!

Thanks Guys!

My list of parts is as follows:

i5 2500k
Asus P8Z68 - V mobo
8GB G. Skill Ripjaw 1600MHZ Ram(Red Heat Sync)
Radeon HD6970(I'll take the one on special when I buy, they're all the same anyway)
Mukii Asroc 750w PSU(In case I ever decide to buy a second card)
Coolermaster HAF 912 Advanced
Coolermaster V6 GT Cooler
1TB Seagate Barracude 7200RPM HDD
Windows 7 Home Premium 64

This will cost me around R10700.00 with out shipping, unless the Dollar drops a bit by the time I order, parts are expensive here, so I'm hoping this rig will keep me gaming for 18 months to 2 years...Hopefully!

You could go for the P67 series boards as well. They are a bit cheaper and most gamers won't use the extra features (that use the onboard GPU to encode video) all that much. My build cost me a smidge under R10K, but I bought when the prices were good. I have noticed the prices have jumped quite a bit lately .

welcome to ocn, remember donate biltong to me i <3 that stuff mate.
Thers not a huge difference between p67 and z68, anything thats the cheaper option is good. A lot of p67 boards are decent, ask around for the ones u have in mind

@Cypher, lekker man!

@AMDRocks, yeah going with 2500k

I know the P67 boards are a bit cheaper, but the Z68 board that I looked at seems to retail for just a little bit more, and supports CF in 8/8 where as the P68 boards that do that are R200 more. I'll have a look again before I order and buy the one that I like best with the best price! As long as it comes in at the 10-12K mark, I'm happy!
