Overheating motherboard?

Amd 64 4200 (socket 939)
ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe (updated BIOS)
ATI Radeon 1950 pro
Corsair 650tx PSU
4gb ddr 3200
Seagate 200gb barracuda
Windows 7 64bit

Hi I was trying to sort a friends PC out & seem to run into problems from buying 2nd hand board from Ebay.

The PC turns off if I stress or after 30minutes. I have cleaned the CPU with isopropanol & added thermal paste several times & even changed the stock cooler for an Alaska cooler.

I am not sure tho if is the CPU or something else causing the PC to turn off after 30mins or if I do a stress test. Have also tried another GPU & same problem.

I fear is the MOBO which I purchased at auction.

He is using a tv as a monitor @ 1080p is it too much for the card? I allocated 1gb of memory for hardware.

Any help appreciated.

When it turns off does it just blue screen or just reboots? If it just reboots, it could be either memory or power supply, pc shouldn't be rebooting under stress unless something is unstable or not working properly.

If it's the PSU the system will just shut off from overload... or the PSU would pop and kill things.

I'm voting memory.

if it is due to overheating get a good airflow case

It just turns off, doesnt reboot or BSOD. I havent checked if the memorys got issues. I dont think its the airflow.

One thing I never mentioned, when it had the stock fan, would start to build up speed before shut down & sounded like was maxed out. But didnt feel that hot.

No1 got any other ideas on this?
If was the PSU dont think the fan would go into overdrive before shut down, surely would just shutdown.
I managed to install Windows 7 & all the drivers, so maybe could be a driver issue.

I'm also voting PSU. It seems like a nice branded PSU, but it sounds like thats where the problem is at the moment.. :3

@dixsons off-topic signature.
4Ghz, 35C (+ the 15C offset) idle, 1.44v, stock NB v. H100 is serving me well, and thats still on pull only biggrin.gif

Tested it with a 2nd PSU with same result. Once I start stress testing the temp went 100+ (think 120 was max, not sure) yet board or CPU fan arnt nowhere near that kind of heat, then the PC shuts down. So I am guessing a sensor on the board is faulty.frown.gif

Dont suppose there is a solution for this anyone?
