Freezing issues

I have no clue what is wrong. My computer will freeze from youtube, listening to music, anything! I was able to catch my temps before it happened. CPU 47C, GPU 45/34, Air Flow 27C. Obviously it isn't a heat issue. Ive ran memtest through 2.5 cycles with no errors. CPU is at stock speed. Ive even swapped out my 2 570s to a 260 to rule out any SLI driver issues. Drivers are up to date as well as windows update. Ive ran a complete virus scan on both safe mode and normal. My PSU is brand new from RMA. My final conclusion is it could be my mobo but I don't want to start ripping things apart until Im sure. I do however have a friend who is running a fake win7 ultimate 64bit like me and he ishaving the same issue. Could a fake version run into such issues? I could be using it for 30 mins and itll freeze, then 15, then 10 and sometimes even at the welcome screen. Help please!

Thanks

well if your friend is having the same issue then i'm sure it's the OS.
where did you get the windows version from?
is it a downloaded ISO or did you grab it from a disc and use a key you found online or a keygen?
it definately sounds like your OS is unstable though.

Try running Linux. If the issues disappear. The fake Win7 should, too.

Invest on a real one.

its from a disc not a downloaded iso. The key i think online not too sure about that but Im thinking about buying a legit version. Would a faulty mobo be a possible cause too? Ive had it for 3 years

well yea that definately wouldn't help.
Why not trying to do a clean install?
that'll tell ya for sure if it's the OS, the MoBo, or just some random crap messing with things.

edit: do NOT do system restore. if you have a virus then it will not work and could make it worse. The first thing most trojans and such infect are your system recovery/restore files.

a faulty mobo could cause those issues but you would have other concerns as well not just system freezing.

try running a linux live disc and play around with the internet and youtube on that and see if the concerns continue. if they stop then i would recommend finding an alternate copy of the windows 7 or just do the legit thing and go out and buy a copy and reinstall windows.

also i would like to add that a failing hard drive can cause these symtoms as well.

Well said. If it were the mobo i would get BSOD too which im not. Ill try a clean install with a legit copy and see what happens. My friend tried a clean install with the same disc and he has the same issue still. Hes been using his macbook for the last 5 years.

I have same / similer problem but only on a cold boot.
Gauranteed within about 5mins of booting up first thing in a morning as soon as i open my browser and do anything i get a freeze. No BSOD or anything else and the hdd light just does 1 quick flash about every 2 secs until i press the soft reset button.

After that it runs fine all day long.
Could be anything for me though , CPU is a 2 core unlocked to a quad , my PSU is a cheapo 800w , and i have cheap ram. Aslong is the freeze just stays to the cold boot only i cba testing everything.

Hope you get yours sorted.
P.S. I really don't think it's the OS.

from what your describing it sounds like the disc is faulty, but to be on the safe side i would run a hardware testing tool such as PC-Check (found on hirens boot cd) to test your hardware.

Replace your ram before anything. I just had this problem. Memtest was wrong for me. I was getting 0 errors even after 5 passes. I replaced my ram and no more freezing! YAY!!
