odd issue with Dell 1525

Thread Starter
so here's an odd issue on my brothers Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop with the Duo Core 2

previously installed windows 7 as an upgrade from vista. system overall runs fine but graphics suffored and he could not play his games he likes to play (ie WoW) he knows its not gonna run them great but they were still playable before hand.

Finally got a chance to take a good deep look into it and did a full hardware test on it. all hardware passes and reinstalled windows to rull out windows corruption. all drivers are installed and windows recognizes the proper GPU (intel G965 chipset). but running anything 3D crashes the system and even running Furmark the GPU is shown as 0mhz clock and 0mb memory and the temperature sensor shows 0.

now all drivers related to the GPU have been upgraded and i trust my hardware testing but this is just a little weird. especially since i've installed windows 7 on my other brothers identical Inspiron 1525 without these issues.

any thoughts or suggestions before i downgrade it back to vista to rule out operating system as the culprit.

ya i know and even windows has the drivers built in. its really confusing and doesn't look like its a hardware failure but certianly still could be.
