Converting a Site to Drupal - Page 2

Yes, I've read over that, plus the themeing guide included in my book.

My major problem now is mostly identifying what places in my HTML to replace with PhP and the regions how they work with my website and such.

Edit: In all reality, the only place I need to be dynamic is the news page, where I want to be able to post articles, have an archive (pagination), and have a automatic separator appear between each article.

I was thinking something like this, but it doesn't really work.

Code:
<section>
<div class="left-column">
<h2 id="page-title" class="image-swapped"><span>The Order of the Ascendant Gryphon</span></h2>
<img src="images/dragonhall.png" alt="The Dragon Hallway">
<h3 id="article-title" class="image-swapped"><span>As it Began</span></h3>
<?php print $content; ?>
<div class="clear"></div>
<div class="introduction">
<h3 id="welcome" class="image-swapped"><span>Welcome!</span></h3>
<?php print $content; ?>
<div class="clear"></div>
</div>
</div>

Well that type of functionality comes by default in Drupal, so try starting with a base theme and modify the code with your own. Instead of doing it from scratch simply replace the HTML and CSS of the base theme to change just the looks.
