I was asking about the i3 2100 vs the old i3 550?

Yeah, I was thinking of a micro ATX build as well.

What's a good 1155 micro-ATX board? Thinking of getting this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112218

That case is fine for a mATX build. Any P67 mATX 1155 board will be fine, the Intel P67DEB3 or ASUS P8P67-M will do well. As for the 2100 vs 555, just get the 2100. They're the same price and the 2100 is newer technology + lower power consumption. Performance wise they're similar, but the 2100 has minor improvements.

What case would be better then? I'll take a look at the ASUS P8P67-M then, as I like Asus mobos.

The one you selected is fine, but this one is good too (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119088). And yeah, Asus is good stuff.

Alright guys, gonna start ordering/buying parts today.

I've attached the parts that I've chosen, the EVGA mobo is a place holder, probably going to go with an Asus p8p67-m motherboard (couldn't add it on newegg).

Buying the processor from Microcenter.

Already ordered: Das Keyboard Professional S

Now my questions are: what CPU cooler is the quietest/efficient for this build? Also what fans should I get for this case? Also, should I get dampening foam?

CM Hyper 212+ is meant to be the quite for a high performance budget cooler.

Is 8gb necessary? I know its cheap now, but 8gb for that usage is certainly overkill.

Well, I think it's like 40-50 dollars for a 4gb kit, so for a little more I don't think it's a bad investment.

While the 212+ wont be as good as a decent water cooler its much easier option. The Noctua D14 is better then most of the premade water cooler sets so thats quite a achievement for a air cooler.
