HDMI is basically just DVI plus audio, so you won't lose any image quality by using DVI. Just avoid VGA if possible.

If you'd like to get HDMI capability, here is another monitor combo'd with the same GPU for $20 more. However, it has free shipping whereas the other does not, so it's really ~$10 difference. But as said, you will still likely use the DVI connection to connect your video card to the monitor as long as you have speakers.

Oh yeah I suppose it is DVI not VGA. I just plan on using the monitor for this desktop alone. I don't play any consoles anymore and I have a laptop but will use that by itself. If I plan to add a second monitor, it's the same deal with just another DVI cable, correct?

Yes, your video card will have two DVI outputs if you want to attach two monitors.

Your build looks good, but you may consider getting a cheaper case and adding a copy of Windows. Not sure if you already have the software or not, but the computer is not much use without it.

Thanks. As far as the Windows copy goes, I can get the OS through my university for free thankfully. You're right, the case is fairly expensive. The case+psu combo is about $250 before the mail-in rebate. Any case/psu suggestions? I like the look of the corsair case, simple but not too bland...the white is a plus too.

It is a relatively expensive case. The first case I looked at for the build was the NZXT Source, another plain case but quite a bit less expensive. However, it only had 230mm of GPU clearance before it hit the HDD rack, so I looked for something a little bigger. The corsair is a solid case but I recommend just looking through for something else you like if you'd like to save a little money. The GPU is 10.3 inches long, or 260mm, so you'll want to make sure any case you choose can fit that.

Here's a popular case that can likely fit your card at a lower price point.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119216

(also saw it on newegg in an "nvidia" version with some green accents that I thought looked pretty nice, but it's all personal preference)

Here is another corsair case scheduled to be released this month that is at a lower price point. This is a suggestion if you aren't going to be purchasing right away, obviously. It says it can hold GPU's up to 316mm in length.

http://www.corsair.com/cases/carbide...ower-case.html

It's currently on amazon.com for $99.

But like I said, just have a look keeping your GPU length in mind.

Well, I personally would not spend more than $100 on the case. I have the CM 690 II and love it. It has the same internal layout as the corsair you picked. But in the end you have to go with what you like. I would just set a hard limit in your head on price, then browse through newegg.com until you find one you like that hits that price.

Take the extra money you save on the case and pump it into the video card.

Alright, so after a long deliberation on the case, I decided to go with something simple. Also I realized that I have a zalman heatsink (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118223) that I can salvage off of my old build along with an optical drive to save some money. In the near future I plan on picking up some more fans/filters for this build.

What do you guys think? I've attached the image of the cart.

Edit: In the future if I decide to do crossfire, will the power supply be good enough to handle that?
Edit 2: Is a 6gb/s version of the HDD for $10 more a better option?
Edit 3: Probably going to go with a different looking case. Probably the NZXT Phantom

Yes 650w can handle 2 6870's.
6gb/s HDD for $10 more? Don't know, Nothing really goes beyond 3gb/s as it is.
Yea Phantom's really really nice.

$160 for that RAM/PSU Combo seem's a bit steep, $140 after MIR I know but something comparable can run you less like Earthwatts 650w & Corsair Vengence totals $113. ($15 off promo on Earthwatts)

Ofcourse the Earthwatts isn't sleeved, So if that's what you want then XFX Core Edition 650w or something.
