A700 vs AD700

Thread Starter
So everyone keeps recommending the A700 in almost every post. So they look like a safe choice. I also found the AD700 which are a closed set. Ive seen no one mention them on these forums and reviews ive read give them good ratings. Anyone here used them? Sorta worried about the lack of bass in the A700. Even tho iam mainly using them for gaming i still want that kick in there from the bass for a little bit more realism. Thanks.

the ad700 are actually the opened set, the a700's are the closed ones. even though they are closed, they still lack a tad bit of bass if that's what you're primarily looking for. however, everything else is very very clean and nice.

Got them mixed up. AD700 is the open ear version while A700 is the closed version. It has slightly heavier and punchier bass than the A700, but the A700 doesn't have that much bass to begin with. It's close ear, so it has a smaller soundstage in return for more isolation. If your a bass head, AD700 will not satisfy you and A700 *might*. A700 also suffers from recessed mids from the reviews that I gather.

Another choice would be Ultrasone HFI580/HFI550/DJ1/ Alieware Ozma 5 (all same headphones) at a slightly higher cost. ($120-140) It has a lot more bass (pretty heavy in fact), and a pretty decent soundstage.

haha way to many options. Wouldnt say iam crazy for bass. Just want some to actually be there when something blows up. Or from gun fire and what not. Just worried everyone says the AD700 bass is very low. Wish i could just find a set around here to try. I was using PC350 till i broke them and i was happy with those.

Go for the A700's. I'm quite content with them so far. Didn't like them at first until I eq'ed them a bit to really make them shine with the music i listen to.

If you want more bass the RX700's is a safe bet. Sound better when modded (foam mod)

I just noticed the case in your sig rig . I'm surprised the filters didn't catch that one.

Well went ahead and got the A700. And they sound amazing. So clear these blow my old PC350s away sound quality wise. But they lack a little bit a bass but the trade off i think is way worth it. Gona take some geting used to sound being so clear haha.
