[G]Firefox easily outperforms Chrome with many tabs open - Page 12

I don't know why people use speed as an argument with browsers. I have both Chrome and Firefox on my computer, and I don't notice a difference between either. I use Firefox primarily because it has all my extensions, and I fall back to IE or Chrome if a page does not load.

I know for a fact that Chrome and Firefox do not have entirely the same extensions, they each have some the other doesn't have, and if you ask me, that is the only credible reason to prefer one to the other.

Chrome opens in about 0.1s, Firefox opens in about 3sec. Chrome has built in instant, so it knows what website I want to go to and it loads it before I even finish. I looked for a firefox addon for that but could not find one.

One con about chrome it's having some lag on sites when loading, for an example tmz.com and interfacelift.com will freezes up for a good 5sec before I can scroll down. I think this is an adblock problem.

You need to try FF8 with FasterFox and Speed DNS. Starts up in less than a second and loads pages far faster than Chrome can since you can't edit the network settings in Chrome. If you have too many filters on Adblock plus for chrome is causes the tab to freeze for a long time. You can also smoothly scroll down the page as it's loading in FF unlike Chrome.

For the pre-loading, there is no alternative since Google is locking it down to only the Chrome browser just like they're doing with the google voice search unless you want to use Firesay You can enable pre-feteching of pages with FasterFox if you want but it does pre-load every link on a site so be careful what sites you visit.

I have been using FF8, and Chromium 15. I only use Fanboy's and Easylist in adblock+. I like firefox, but I always find myself going back to chrome just cause of some of the little things that I miss.

Meh, Chrome does fine with the number of tabs I leave open (8-10 usually). I don't need anything more.

This comparison is a little rediculous. A part from the tiny percentage of users who do use that many tabs, this information is irrelevant to the majority of users. Personally, I still prefer how Chrome handles each tab in it's own process, and moving tabs around, and even putting them in their own window works a lot better than FF (in FF, the page has to be reloaded, and in Chrome, it doesn't -- this is especially useful with multimonitor setups and watching videos online -- moving the tab with the video doesn't require a reload).

These findings are useless. Who in the world even bothers to browse the internet with less than 500 tabs open at once?

The faster startup, Instant search and better autofill when typing in omnibox, quick translate. However I might use FF8 some more, due to this page freeze problem in chrome...

Seems like i did good in choosing firefox. Taking in mind my 80+ tabs open at any time.

It seems like Chrome needs to work on its tab management a little bit.
