[G]Firefox easily outperforms Chrome with many tabs open - Page 13

The most tabs I open is when I go to a news place (such as OCN) and open all the recent posts... so maybe 10. Other than that I can't focus knowing I have a lot more to go through so I rarely open more than 5 tabs. lol

Less than a second isn't fast enough?
Omnibar and Omnibar Plus will get you the same single address bar:

There's tons of translation extensions here and here.

You can use bookmark keywords in FF to create custom searches as well, allowing you to just type "addons someextension" in the address bar to easily search.
Use the extension: Openbook to enable keyword input when you press ctrl+d or click on the star:

Code:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=EDITME&cat=all&x=0&y=0
Just replace EDITME with %s which is the variable. You can do this to any POST url.

My experience with FireFox is that it consumes MASSIVE amounts of RAM in everyday use, which is rather annoying. I'm not talking 300MB mind you. More like 2.3GIGAbytes. Now with 8GB in the tank, it's not a problem. It just irks me to have a web browser use that much....

Well I'm one of the few that saves their tabs when I close the browser. As of now I have 124 tabs open lol. So it looks like I might be switching to firefox if I can notice a speed difference.

I know for a fact that Chrome and Firefox do not have entirely the same extensions, they each have some the other doesn't have, and if you ask me, that is the only credible reason to prefer one to the other.
I don't notice a speed difference until I start my forum posting, then I usually have anywhere from 20-200 tabs open and Firefox really destroys Chrome.

One con about chrome it's having some lag on sites when loading, for an example tmz.com and interfacelift.com will freezes up for a good 5sec before I can scroll down. I think this is an adblock problem.
Except when you set both to open your last open tabs, Chrome takes about 1 minute to fully load but 10 seconds to be usable, Firefox takes less than half of that time, it lags for about 3 seconds before its usable?

I'm using FF8 x64 with FasterFox.

I stick with my 23 Tab script using FF. This works well for me.

Haven't read the thread yet but do Fasterfox and Speed DNS work good? I installed them after reading the OP but don't know if they can cause problems with anything.

I have known a couple people to regularly have upwards of 70 tabs open. Still, that usage scenario is definitely a minority.

I typically never have more than 10 tabs open at any given time. That being said I already have a bunch of addons setup in Firefox and can't be bothered to spend the time duplicating the functionality in another browser.

Here is one for the Chrome boys. This is after I JUST open Chrome and saved tabs. OCN and Facebook, 231MB total. I've had 4 pages, playing a flash vid, jump to 450MB+ on Chrome. No leaks, nothing. Chrome really misleads you on the memory use due to multi-process. Yeah it's more efficient but it eats RAM. I'm on Chrome ATM with the reply, I'll post a FF screen of my system manager too. Oh look at that, it's got 200MB and 5 tabs? Fresh start. I think after a couple days use/flash vids FF gets up to 350MB. I wonder how quick I could get Chrome up to that? I'm guessing much quicker. FF is still good on resources.

Ok, this doesn't make sense at all

Anyway, i used FF back in the day (FF4) and then switched to chrome and never looked back. I like the layout of chrome and never have more then 10-15 tabs opened. It's true that the shrinking of the tabs can be annoying and that the browser slows down to a crawl when you open multiple tabs at once (mainly if you want them translated)

If you're using more than 8 tabs I'd say you should be on IE6, because you're doin' work.
