[G]Firefox easily outperforms Chrome with many tabs open - Page 3

Where's the flood of Chrome users that have to post in here to defend their browser, despite the fact they get nothing out of it?

I've never had more then 30 tabs open at once...
Even i can't imagine 70+ tabs at once O_o

I will say chrome becomes completely unresponsive for me when opening multiple tabs at once(5+). While firefox(waterfox 6) stops responding for 2-3 seconds, chrome sits there for 10-15 seconds showing no signs of life.

I like both but lately Chrome has been working well for me. Last FF I had wasn't too stable.

My experience with FireFox is that it consumes MASSIVE amounts of RAM in everyday use, which is rather annoying. I'm not talking 300MB mind you. More like 2.3GIGAbytes. Now with 8GB in the tank, it's not a problem. It just irks me to have a web browser use that much....
really?
i have more then 50 tabs open with FF4 and its eating 1.7GB of ram

Not really. Just between the tabs that I leave open all the time (for updates on their content, mostly; others are just archived content for common reference), I have 43 tabs open, and each day on OCN takes the total tab count over 60 very easily.

That said I will attest Opera is FAR more stable than Firefox with lots of tabs open. I can't even right-click images in Firefox without it locking up 10 seconds at a time for no good reason, whereas I can leave Opera on with my set of 43 tabs open between Patch Tuesdays and it'll still be nearly as fast as when I first opened it. I'd go back to Firefox if it were that tolerable, honestly. I like Firefox a lot but the lack of stability since 3.5 kills me.

I do. Almost at any time Chrome will have 15 tabs as a minimum.

70 tabs is insane, and 150 is even crazier for the average, and some of the non-average users. I get to use 40-60 tabs when i'm truly surfing the web.

Chrome uses way less RAM than FF. with 35 tabs open (as of now), BOINC running on all CPU cores, F@H on both GPUs, Winamp, uTorrent, TeamVIewer and Afterburner loaded on memory (and Win7 ofc) i get to use 2.4 GB RAM. If i were to open same tabs with FF5, i'd use 2.9-3.4 GB RAM.

Check out FF7 and especially 8. Those memory-leak slowdowns are gone. I've been using 8 as my main for over a month and haven't had any crashes or slowdowns yet. FF7 gets bumped down to beta in a week.

If it were the memory leaks causing the instability at all, then I'd blame that for any time Opera crashes (it's using 1.2GB of RAM as of this post, with 51 tabs open). But I'm fairly sure that my instability problems with FF aren't anything to do with the memory leaks.
