Best Motherboard Help

Thread Starter
Come to the conclusion I will be getting a i7 2600k with a radeon 6990 2gb card.

I've looked at the maximus IV as seeming to be the best available?

Now i come here to ask whats the best motherboard i can get. Trying to future proof. Seems like theres only a couple hundred dollar difference from the high end to the mid level so i might as well go all out.

So in you guys opinion whats the best motherboard i can get? (an i don't care if its overkill for my set up)

Go to the link in my sig. It has all the information to compare all the P67 and Z68 motherboards.

You can find just what you need

Personally, though, as you can tell, I prefer the UD7 to the MIV.

At first, I was going to go with the MIV, but then I realized that even though it does have UEFI, it's colored black-red, and I absolutely hate that color scheme

why not wait for the G1 Sniper 2? its got some great features for gaming.

The M4E is also a great board tho, take your pick. And you also have the Z68X-UD7 too.

I'm a total noob to this stuff. This is my first custom build. So some things you say is basically gibberish though i am learning.

Track i had looked over the sheet before this thread but really don't know some of the differences. They appear to be fairly close to the same.

I guess my questions are.

What can i do with bluetooth?

Whats the difference in BIOS an UEFI?

Whats the difference in Extended ATX and ATX?

And the more VRM the better correct?

Do you think I should explain these in the thread? I think I will.

Bluetooth would let you connect to any bluetooth device (such as a mouse) without the need for a proprietary USB adapter. Although, most adapters cost less than 15$.

Extended ATX motherboards are 2-3" wider, so they require a special case that supports Extended ATX motherboards.

Yes, the more VRM the better. Although more than 8 overkill. It's only good for extra stability but won't hinder overclocking performance.

Feel free to ask any more questions.

So extended does no good other than just the motherboard itself is bigger?

I'm not worried about cost or the fact that anything is overkill for what I'm going to use. My biggest concern is future proofing to make this last as long as i can. I can only afford to do this once every few years.

So in your opinion whats my best choice?
