Gentle Typhoon case fans

Hi, in my sig rig, I have 5 blue r4's (2 on top, 2 on side, 1 on front), and a lamptron fc4 controller, which is great, but most of the time I only run the front fan because the r4's so SOO LOUD. I'm putting in a 480 instead of my 5850 soon, and I might be folding on that and CPU again soon, so I will need a good cooling in my case.
Would it be worth it to upgrade my 5 r4's to gentle typhoons? AP-15? or another model? I don't really want to spend a ton on this upgrade so the cheaper = the better. I just want a decent fan that doesnt sound like a jet engine.
And since I have a blue and black theme going, all my blue razer keyboard, mouse, black mousepad, black case + blue controller + fans, black speakers, black monitor, black razer armadillo, should I return its pimpness by putting in an led strip or cold cathode that's blue? I want it to be like, WOAH, THATS BLUE without going deaf while I'm folding or gaming
Thanks

If budget is a concern for you then I wouldn't go with Gentle Typhoons. They are usually quite expensive, I've seen them going from anywhere between $17-$24 dollars for a fan.

Have you considered looking into Yate Loon fans? They are some of the bang for your buck fans around.

Looks promising, at $7 a fan, but are they quiet (at least quieter than my LED r4's)? And provide good air flow? I just looked at my HWMonitor, and having just the front fan on was about 42C and then all fans was 37C, so a good 5C on case fans, so it makes a difference for sure
Cheers

I am not too familar with the r4's but Yate's get a lot of praise around here for their low noise and the air they push. I am thinking of picking some up soon to replace the fans that came with my cm690 (not sure if they are r4's or not).

If you are going to go with the Yate's make sure that you buy them from Petra's Tech Shop. They sell real authetic Yate Loon fans. There's a thread floating around this subforum showing the quality differences between the same fan sold from other online stores, such as Jab-Tech. There seems to be a problem with online stores selling fake Yate's.

Yate's come in three settings: Low, Medium, High.

D12SL-12 (Low Speed)

D12SM-12 (Medium Speed)

D12SH-12 (High Speed)

The differences between them are the RPM, the Air they move and the noise they make. It is up to you how much noise you can take. Personally I am looking at the low or medium fans myself.

Looks like the "low speed" is 28 dB it says on the details. I look at the led r4's I have and it says 19 dB, so why are they so noisy on my case? I mean, I can deal with the front and top 2, but the side 2 on my case make a really prominent VRRMMMMMMMMMMMMM noise that is super load + annoying. But the top 2 and the front just sound like air, and I can deal with that. I'm thinking maybe I have them mounted incorrectly or something? Its on my HAF 922

Hmm, I seem to have the same problem as you. The only fan I can really hear on my CM690 is the side fan. From what I've seen it seems like the side fans are always the most noisiest culprits. I don't really know a solution to this.
