A sheet of paper will do you nicely. Just tape the corners in place on your desk and you're off to the races.

Seriously, if you buy a "gaming" mouse, it should be of sufficient quality so as not to require a fancy mouspad.

I have a Razer mousepad, but it was more than $15. I like the products they make.

I bet you can find something from them you will like.

For the money, the Steelseries QCK series are quite good and quite popular cloth mousepads. Pick the size QCK that suits you and your computer set-up, they all perform about the same. I wouldn't necessarily recommend using a cloth mousepad with a high CPI laser mouse though, but most optical mice will work well. For high CPI laser mice, a hard mousepad is usually best. The Steelseries 4HD and 9HD are a couple of good hard pads. The Razer Sphex is not bad (and in your price range). I had an Allsop thin precision hard pad that was pretty good, and not too expensive either, I just can't remember the exact name of it.

I'd sell you my lightly used steelseries QCK for $10.00 shipped. Painuser, the sc2 pro actually gave it to me at a lan and it's never seen use. No, I don't have proof, but yeah, it's a true story.

EDIT: By never seen use I mean I've never used it. Painuser said he used it for about a week and never liked it.

I love my Goliathus, best mousepad I have ever used, though I cant speak for this "Omega S Control Edition". My razer mouse compliments it very well and I can no longer game without the combination. Cost me about £7 I believe at my local "hardware repository".

I find the mouse's 1000hz and 5600dpi allow for excellent precision but it is the pad that makes the most difference (take it away and the mouse is nowhere near as good, I die inside a little).

Though with a non-razer mouse I have no idea how it will perform.
