Like there was this huge massacre where everyone was painfully tortured and killed before you came along. It just adds that chilling contextual element that makes you shudder and think. I hope they capture that in D3.

and as mentioned above, the dark ambience was layered even more by the sounds and music. Loved it.
Yes! I can't help but silently laugh when people say D2 wasn't "dark". I'm guessing (that's all any of us can do at this point), that D3 will also be "dark". From the looks of it, they're working on building a good story... and not one filled with warm and fuzzy carebears hugging.

The hype train for Diablo 3 has dropped a lot. It was pretty much the MUST BUY game for me back in, what 2008 when they revealed it? Yikes it's been awhile...

I mean, it's totally okay~ but the landscape is different now. With the decisions they've made for it, and the odd publisher legitimized rmt~ I just, finding it really hard to shake that off. If there were no other games on the horizon this may not really be the case... but if Guild Wars 2 is released anytime prior to Feb 12~ I just don't see why I would want to play Diablo 3 at this point.

Maybe by the time they release an expansion or something.

I was really looking forward to D3 when they first announced it. As time has progressed and they have released more videos and pictures I find myself less interested. I can deal with the very cartoon looking background as they have promised ever changing landscape each time you play. Making most of the landscape generate randomly each play through is going to force them to make certain design calls so the water colored cartoon looking back drops makes sense. I really hope the story remains intact and they run with it in the right direction. If they stay on track with the story line we will be fighting angels as well as demons, heaven and hell should have spilled over onto the mortal world. That being said I will be waiting till after the game has been out for awhile and look at the reviews and user posted videos before I make the purchase. Now I have never heard of Grim Dawn till I started reading this thread, looks pretty impressive to me and I think I am more inclined to buy it rather than D3 at this point.

I don't understand peoples' obsession with Grim Dawn at this point. There is limited information available and for what's out so far, I'm honestly not that impressed. The gameplay looks very static and uninteresting. It may be "darker" but being constantly "dark" doesn't allow for much anticipation buildup between scenes. It's like... ok so "Act 1" was dark, oh wait, "Act 2" was dark, oh and again "Act 3" was dark... I bet "Act 4" will be dark too! Eventually it'll just lead to uninteresting game play. But, like I've said before... I'll wait till the game is out before I make my final judgment.

I liked the Diablo series, but IMO i still think that Baldurs Gate: Dark alliance 1 & 2 and the Champions of Norrath series are better.

I only wish i could get them on PC to play. Stupid Console only games.

Personal taste really, from what I am seeing of Grim Dawn it looks more like what I was expecting D3 to look/feel like. I am sure there are going to be well lit areas as well, the overall theme seems darker and looks less cartoonish. It may only be worth a single play through and the game play might not even be worthwhile but the art looks more appealing to me. Blizzard has never let me down with great storyline and game play but I am just not a big fan of the cartoon like appearance so far. I understand its easier for them to generate random levels for each play through with this art style but I was hoping for something a bit more. Like I said I will wait for D3 to be out for awhile and look at how people are reacting to it and I will probably end up making the purchase but its not going to be a game I pre-order or rush out to buy the first day its out.

As long as I have a hot chick, with a crazy bow, and about as much clothing on as a hooker I'm happy.
