"Its not uncommon. I had the same problem with my original 5970+ 2x5870 running in parallel with a single D5. You lack sufficient flow rate to evenly distribute the flow evenly. The flow will naturally follow the least route of resistance unless there is sufficient pressure and flow rate to evenly distribute it. I went to serial config and have never looked back."

Yep the middle card is just getting bypassed with minimal water going into the gpu water chamber. Its just easier for the water to keep flowing through the wider, less restrictive sli water bridges to the 3rd card where water is forced through back to your tubing. Eventhough it isn't as cool looking, id go back to serial anytime you are going beyond sli to tripple or quad sli. Hope this helps!

You have the gpus in parallel, so if one of your blocks is over-restrictive, the flow will naturally go around that block. Since you put it in parallel, you've allowed the waterflow to bypass the restriction. Parallel only works if all the blocks in parallel are of the same restriction level, which means they well all get the same flow.

I run a parallel config with a 6990 and 6970, both blocks are different but I get better temps than serial. Phatboy69 is correct, you need more pumping power. I run dual D5's now and I see a massive difference in my cards temps at idle and at load. One D5 worked well, but 2 is even better. My loop is now 3 rads, cpu, 2 gpu, mosfet and nf200. A second pump is exactly what you need.
