Building a 2nd system and I would be pretty pissed if they go all "intel way" on me..
Meaning I buy a ivy for these boards out now and they release a new 3rd ge.n i3 i5 that can't be used on 1155
Ivy Bridge will be the last chips on 1155. Socket 2011 is coming out soon with 6 core Sandy Bridge CPUs and a while later will get Ivy Bridge as well.

Has intel stated anything about "Haswell" yet?

Just a bit of information that can be found on Wikipedia. Wonder if the 2011 SB-E motherboards will support Haswell (assuming Intel doesn't make any changes).

Ivy Bridge is stated to have DDR3 3000 support. Shall we hope for DDR4 4000 support for Haswell?

so getting a Z68 with pci-e 3.0 , and next year getting Ivy CPU is ok then? (kinda future proof)

they wont make a new socket for the Ivy next year only that 2011 socket thats for more high end consumers?

reason im asking is that im going to build two systems, one bulldozer for server side of things (running vmware) and Ivy as my gaming rig , while my current one only gets a 6core and left for friends to use if they come and visit and are to lazy to bring their own computer
edit: i got the 140Ed of 955 , so upgrading to a 125W 6core is totally justified as a 2nd system

and going for Ivy as my gaming rig, I would it to kinda last longer than Intel sockets generally does (or thats just me anyways) hence why im checking out the pci 3.0 part.

in short, is it "safe" to buy a cheap i3 for now along with Z68 pci 3.0 (activates on ivy i have read) and as soon as ivy gets a release, jump on the updated i5 ?
are my thoughts correct?

sorry for bad english

I don't understand, why both sandy and ivy bridge will use the socket 1155 ? And that first intel core cpu's in 1156 socket was living only one year.
