Wow ur right.. I looked into this thing & it blow the Samsung out the water. Plus i spent 10mins looking threw consumer reviews on newegg & these things die on you like no tomorrow. Also the XHD3000 are discontinued now & also have been known to die on you as well. Who wants to deal with that when there not even on the line anymore..

So i've changed the thread name now that i've found this..

thanks

The reason is because it's an IPS screen instead of a TN screen.
They also make a 27" and a 24" version if you're looking for the best kind of screen, but don't want to pay the price.

People that have them, swear by them.
Hopefully some U3011 owners will pop in and tell you more about them.

There are multiple 30"ers better than the U3011, but IMO, unless you REALLY REALLY need that, it's not worth the price.

Also, keep in mind, any image quality issues reported by 30" owners are usually because those people are diehard videophiles that look for any faults in the monitor, that are usually much less severe than the random TN monitor you'd use.

And yes, they are expensive as mbudden said because of the IPS panel. The monitors he's referring to are the U2711 and the U2410 (and also the slightly worse U2412m that has just released)

But for the budget, the U3011 is probably the best 30"er you can have, unless you are very picky about input lag, in which case the HP ZR30W would win, but that lacks features that are quite useful, so otherwise I would not recommend that.

For gaming, the ZR30w would be better due to the shorter input lag due to the lack of an OSD

What is the DKSN-p?

On screen display, the thing you control monitor settings from.

The ZR30w lacks and a scaler so it reduces the input lag, which is 20ms on the dell, and lower on the ZR30w. Will only really matter if you know that you hate input lag with a passion.

Input lag is noticeable on the Dell but I was used to it with my last Samsung monitor, other then that the Dell monitor is the best. If you want the 30" get the u3011 if not save yourself the money and get the u2711.
