Can't change my resolution beyond 1024...

Thread Starter
So I have been working on this problem for about 3 days now, it all started when I re-install my OS. Everything was fine but my monitor ( Sony Bravia HDTV 1080p KDL-32EX400) was giving me a resolution of 1024x768. I couldn't find a way to change the resolution, it didn't even give me an option for anything greater. So I downloaded the latest drivers and still no go.

My attempts:
Install older Nvidia drivers
install generic pnp ( as well as non gnp)
creating a custom resolution (failed the test or told me that size is already created)
Re installing OS
Trying flat panel resolution driver (1920x1080 60hz)
Uninstalling and scanning for hardware changes
Powering down TV waiting and powering back up
Enabled -- fixed Nvidia scaling in control panel

I'm running Vista 64bit, a 9800gtx+ with a DVI to HDMI cable which worked fine for bout a year now. I have also installed all windows update's. I can't seem to change the aspect ratio on the HDTV (4:3) even though it was at 16:9. I'm sure the HDTV can handle the 1920x1080 it has done it before. I'm all out of options.

Ty for the help in advance!

Have you tried connecting it directly through DVI? (DVI-DVI). I know DVI-HDMI in theory should work fine, but sometimes things get wonky with HDTVs.

Have you tried all the different ports on both the Video card and the monitor?
