How many fans can my SMPS support??

Thread Starter
Hi guys,
Iam new to this forum and also air cooling of CPU's , I have a rather basic system to meet my needs , and I have Intel Core 2 Duo , with a fan mounted on top of the very processor , There isnt any other fan in the cabinet except for a small one the graphic card and thats inbuilt , so virtually speaking there aren't any fans in my cabinet other than these two - the one on the processor and another on the graphic card . My cabinet has holes and grills drilled for four fans - two at the back and two on the side , so actually i can mount four fans , My SMPS is rated 250W , can anyone advise how many fans and where and how exactly should they be placed so as to get a good airflow and maximum effectiveness ...!

Thanks for any help in advance!

Thanks
Rgds

Fans (barring Deltas) shouldn't draw too much from the power supply.

What sizes can your case use? 80mm? 120mm?

In your case, I'd say rear exhaust, side intake. Though you're not going to get much in the way of airflow from an 80mm fan.

If possible I'd suggest using the money you'd spend on fans and maybe getting a budget case (Nzxt Gamma or something similar). But assuming that's not an option, are you in the States? If not, where could you order fans from?

one 80mm side intake and one 80mm rear exhaust would be more than enough for a non-overclocked core2

Your power supply should have 4-pin molex connectors you can use.

And you can but I'm not sure it'd be wise with the amount of ventilation your case has.
