[Toms] Ubisoft: Our Always-Online DRM is a Success

While this does make things harder for pirates, legit gamers who have a flakey internet connection or wish to play their games on a gaming laptop when away from a Wi-Fi hotspot are totally out of luck. Conversely, if Ubisoft's servers go down, that's also game over for players.

Despite all that, Ubisoft still sees its DRM scheme a success, and will be implementing it in its Driver: San Francisco that releases on August 30 in the US, and September 2 in Europe.

HAHAHA, Say what? They seriously think their DRM is a success?
And I'm sorry guess I will be adding Driver:SF to my list of games I won't be getting.

Yes it would be a success, now people who want to play the game will have to pay, even though pirates may, may, find a no-cd crack.

Um.... Every one of their games is pirated in a few days + they dont need constant internet connection.

This is why I dont buy Ubisoft games.

Too bad their game will be cracked days before it's actually released. Ubisoft, you're just doing a disservice to your real customers.

Haha, I thought they were being serious for a second.

..Oh wait. It's UbiSoft. When will they realize draconian DRM only makes matters worse, and for crackers to try even harder to crack your game. Lol.

Why do companies keep trying on DRM? Even if they make the perfect DRM it wont make more people buy it. I think they spend more money on DRM than they actually get from people buying those due to not being able to pirate.

But it might be some economics silly concept, something like "projected sales + projected pirates stopped by drm + drm raises the projected sales" even though it makes no sense. But economics have never made sense.

Steam i would consider to be a near perfect DRM. most people accept it, so why not just make it a steam works game. Oh that's right then Steam would get a cut of their precious profits. Greed will kill ubisoft!
