[Toms] Ubisoft: Our Always-Online DRM is a Success - Page 10

DRM solves Nothing and is a big waste of time and resources. When it comes down to it... the Pirates don't care about how much a game costs and what security measures are in there way, The people that crack software get there rocks off doing just that! Cracking Games and Software! DRM causes the people that pay money for the game frustration and animosity, While the individual that gets there Torrent Cracked de-DRM'ed Game may have a better overall experience not having to deal with DRM and all the other Politicly Correct Lawyer Bull-S*** that comes with a retail copy nowadays.

As for me being a Ubisoft fanboy I don't know how I could be one as I own very few games from them, I used to like them a lot in the Splinter Cell/Prince of Persia era but since then I haven't really noticed what they released, except for the first Assasin's Creed that I own. Their DRM is BS but isn't the nemesis that people here try to make it sounds like, and people only use it as excuses for piracy.

There is no excuses for piracy, if you want to steal a game do it but don't make it sounds like it's a moral act, it's like the people looting in London right now and coming up for excuses because they can't admi they're scumbags.
Having the POSSIBILITY of playing offline is light years ahead of INTENTIONALLY not being able to play offline in a single player game. You had an issue with Steam that did not allow you to play offline. You won't have issue that with Ubisoft games because you won't even get a chance to try (unless you crack it).

And I don't see how any piracy "validations" are relevant to Ubisoft's DRM discussion.

Even though the games are cracked in just a few days, they don't work for everyone, so people give up and just buy the game.

LOL. More people have problems WITH DRM then cracked DRM. In fact I go to a "legal iffy" site when I need help with legitimate games. Support is better there than the company who made the game. Most the time I use such cracks to bypass problems that DRM usually causes me.

I must be lucky but I always seem to get kicked in the nuts by EA/UBI DRM. Main reason I only buy their games used and super cheap anymore.

The "pirate" argument is a scam to me anyways. Most of their "losses" were PROJECTED numbers. They THOUGHT they would make 1 billion but only made 750m so they had a 250m loss. Thus "pirating is killing us" bull came into the making.

This seriously affects me in a very negative way. So much infact, I cancelled my Pre-order for Driver. Where I live I have two choices for Internet access. Dial Up and Satellite. I have Satellite and it stinks. Its constantly on and off due to weather or all the users that hit the system during prime time. NTM that I have a very strict Bandwidth cap of only 7GB/month down and 2.1GB/month UP.

I can't have games and services that Demand Internet access at all times do to this. Steam gets me to with the mandatory updates so after I get them installed I try to keep steam offline at all times or I'll be Fapped.

Not everyone has access to Unlimited broadband or 24/7 access and it seems like more and more this is getting overlooked or they just plain don't care. And this is only just one of the concerns I have about this DRM.

That's ignorant. There's no such thing as perfect DRM. I don't mean on a moral basis; I'm talking about on purely a technical basis.

Absolute protection is impossible.
