Droid Charge?

Thread Starter
I've had my phoen for like 1 year past upgrade now. I've been waiting all my life for dual core phones. I'm sick of waiting I just need a new phone. I really don't have that much money for a newphone, don't think I can pay 200$. I want a samsung but I wanted the function but can't really wait anymore.

Just wondering, I'm guessing that when samsung (Or others) release more 4g phones the charge will drop a lot in price?

It will most certainly be $200. Maybe more. Its gonna be their new flagship phone.

If you want a Samsung phone, I suggest waiting for the Stratosphere. It is the successor to the Fascinate, which was Verizon's version of the Galaxy S. The Stratosphere will be Verizon's version of the Galaxy S II, which is a BEAST of a phone. Word has it that it will be 4G as well.

From all I am reading, should be out within a month or 2. Fascinate is already retired at Verizon and there is a support page already created for the Stratosphere. All good signs that we are close to it's release.

I had a fascinate. It was 50x better than my droid. HOnestly I originally wanted the Bionic cause of tegra. But I want samsung because of LED. And LED is the best thing in the world plus I know samsung only uses quality parts. I'm basically waiting for any galaxy s 2 platform.

Tegra vs hummingbird GPU??

The Galaxy S 2 will likely be priced to match the Bionic.

Everyone but samsung uses LED. Samsung used SAMOLED.

As for Tegra vs SGX540, they are pretty close. The Tegra 2 gpu is pretty weak compared to more modern GPU's. The CPU is pretty different, but not somethign that will be noticed when on Gingerbread.

My honest advice? If you can afford a $100 phone now, start saving those pennies. The next big jump will be ICS on phones. I'd wait for that and save for a $200 phone. It won't be a short wait, 4 months at least probably, but you will have it for 2 years. The way I see it, the best time to buy is right after a big jump up. If you buy right before, you could be sorely dissapointed.

Honestly, I'm pretty sure the Droid Charge is still $299 for new contracts, so I wouldn't put it past Verizon to price the Bionic and Galaxy S II at $299 as well. With all the hype that the Bionic has had for the past 8 months while they've been doing revisions on it, I'm not that impressed by it anymore. I'd wait for the Galaxy S II which should only be a few weeks after the Bionic comes out.

I've had an upgrade since the last week in May, and nothing out right now has struck me as amazing. I'll be sitting around to see what the Galaxy S II brings, and I've also heard of the HTC Vigor scheduled to be available around October 6th. It's rumored to have a 1.5ghz dual-core Snapdragon processor, which could be pretty tasty.

If you're gonna troll and cry don't post on my topics.

Yeah samsung is leds (Whatever they use an LED matrix or whatever, it's still LED base). How is everyone else led? They look like LCD and the battery life sucks compared to samsung. Also the Charge is $100 with contract now, I think I'll wait to bionic comes out or s2, Charge will probably drop even more. We'll see I guess. I'm just guessing dual core for android isn't gonna be a ridiculous gain, probably like 1.5x performance I'd guess.

You don't know what you are saying. Samsung uses SAMOLED. It is a technology where each pixel illuminates itself. There are no LEDs to be found.

Everyone else uses LCDs. LCD pixels do not provide their own backlight. Therefore, they require a separate backlight. What energy efficient source do they choose? LED.

LCD is a screen technology that can have different backlight sources including LED and CCFL. LED is merely a light source to shine through the LCD. You therefore can have an LED LCD. You cannot have an LED OLED of any type.

So no, Samsung doesn't use LED for their screens.
