What is the ATi 5870 equivalent in a AMD 6k series?

As the title states. Still confused by the 6k series. What is the equivalent to a 5870?

What are the advantages of the 6k series over the 5870?

Thanks.

If you buy it in 2gb

I am quite satisfied with my 6870, and I only play like 2-4hrs of video games a week, usually less.

from looking at all benchmarks over the last 3 months the 5870 is still top o the line, i'd say it was on par with the 6950/70 - the probable advantages are:

Lower heat, less noise, shiny new pcb?

here you go, very little difference -

Its the 6950, not 6870. 6870 and 6850 were upgrades of the 5830 and 5770. 6950 and 5870 are very similar. At the 6950's first release the 5870 was actually still better, until drivers matured.

No, the 6970 is the 5870 newer replacement. The 6870 is a tad slower than the 5870.

Actually, the 5870's performance is the same or slightly worse than the 6950's. The 5870 beats the 6870 by a good amount.

yep. When you hear 5870's and 6870's being compared is in crossfire. The 6870 can equal the 5870 in crossfire. As it scales much better. But one on one, its no contest. Or i would have kept my 6870.

So either get a 6970 or try for an unlockable 6950, 2GB models either way.

Got it.

Thanks folks.

I love AMD and all, but if you are getting a newer card, I would go GTX 560Ti. Pretty close to a HD 5870 in performance but many other perks.

Edit: But you probably asked that question that way because you know OCN and how we love to suggest this and that over that and this.
