Also, i doubt BF3 will have to Origin running, will just need to open it to update the game etc. I bought Alice: Madness returns retail and it uses Origin but you don't need it open to launch or play the game.
The alpha needed origin to run... I think the beat and retail will as well. We'll see though. I personally don't care I preordered a DD on origin and got a free mass effect 2 and open origin only beta acess. I enjoy steam and all but competition isn't a bad thing. I also have no fanboy love affair with steam. I remember when I had to install it and it bothered me because it was so slow and crappy. Now its much better but origin is just as good imo.

Dont care if BF3 is on steam or not. None of my other BF games are on steam anyway. All bought from D2D.
I will still play it, as I enjoyed BF2

The alpha didn't need origin to run. Not for me anyway. It needed it to download it, thats it.

I am pretty sure EA wants people to run Origin since they have integrated a chat client into it. They have all that social integration with Facebook and junk. Besides the chat client, Origin looks and runs exactly like EA Download Manager.

I know I have mine pre-ordered right from origin.
I listened over the net that Origin consumes like 30% of CPU resources when BF3 Alpha was running. In fact, I also heard that Origin was required to find matches and play BF3, cannot prove this because I didn't play the Alpha.
If that statement is true, if we add the 30% of resources consumption to the high CPU use that BF3 will probably drawn, it could be a problem to some people.

About the "No Steam==No Buy", I think it's great to have all the downloaded games in one place because I would be very offset if I had to install one download manager for each publisher.
The problem between EA and Valve is bothering users that are taking this in a more personal way.

I don't like Origin at all, but I like BF, and I think BF3 will be awesome, in fact, I pray for that because of the money I spent on the game.
As I was saying, I don't like Origin, but I bought the game there, not only because I like the saga but to give Steam some of competition.

When a monopoly proved to be good?

Okay, a few things.

Please act like mature civilized people! When you are posting on overclock.net we expect some sort of professionalism.Don't start fights with one another or break the rules. If there is a disagreement fine, but don't troll or attack one another.Instead explain in a civilized professional manner. We are here to have a discussion not an argument.

Oh and by the way, posts like, "Steam fanboys cry some more", for example, WILL be deleted as those statement are non-constructive.
