What EA will lose if BF3 stays off Steam - Page 10

While I'd rather have BF3 on my Steam account, having BF3 is more important than where I buy it from. I'll buy it from wherever I have to in order to play it.

That I didn't know. I don't have an ea account though anyway. I don't think. Honestly I might, I have so many dang accounts now it wouldn't surprise me if I did!

This a million times over, I had an EA account made years ago, signed into EA Download Manager (aka Origin Beta) with it for years. This is not some huge drastic change for many of us.

I know I didn't like when they changed it to Origin. I have no clue why they changed the name, it's the same program with a couple new features added. But, I did not throw a hissy fit over it, I wanted to play the game and it allowed me to simply download it wherever I chose.

Honestly, when Steam started becoming mandated on games I bought retail I did throw a hissy fit, like a little school girl breaking a nail, damn it! It wasn't clearly labeled as such on the box.

I can't wait to see the pictures of all the "boycotters" playing BF3 online lol just like the MW2 boycotters

"OMG I have to download Origin to play this game, I'm so butt hurt! "

Yeah logging into Origin when I was in the Alpha really wasn't that big of a deal.

While at first I wasn't crazy about Origin, I actually thought about pre-ordering a physical copy, but then I'd have to go and hook up a dvd-drive, they would probably want me to have the disc in while I was playing or some non-sense.

No thanks, I think I've grown to hate physical media working for a software company that forces me to do everything off a DVD, even windows updates.

I tried Origin after I got an invite for the Alpha, and it wasn't horrible, I just used it to dl the game, and then never really bothered with it. I'll probably end up ordering bf3 off origin just for the early access to beta, since Steam lied to me with their moh page.

I still like Steam, and having all my games in one place, but I can just add it like many have all ready posted, and origin doesn't need to be running to play games, so I really don't care too much at the end of the day.

They are just removing a potential sale source...which I don't understand. You'd think they would be trying to get their game as much exposure as possible...even if that means letting Steam post their DLCs for sale.

This is true...and it can be more of a pain. My BF2142 is attached to the account named with the email I registered it on. Mass Effect 2 is registered on the email I entered into the billing info when I bought it off EA's store (EA Download Manager days) and niether one is an email I even have access to anymore, but you cannot move a game from whatever email it was registered to. No where was I told I was "making an account" when I entered these emails. I've tried moving thins a couple times with EA customer service...even tried sweet talking EA into giving me a copy on one email in exchange for banning/deleting/blocking the old one. I am just glad I got the Northern Stike expansion for BF2142 on the same account as the main game.

Though these aren't recent...but I assume it follows suit. Whatever email you used is the account name.

And I haven't tried adding it, but most likely my Dragon Age 1 purchase is on my email account I use for Steam purchases...so that would probably be another one. Same for Crysis; at least with that Origin account I would have two games on it. It will probably turn into my "main" Origin account

I agree with you 100%. Not buying this game because its not on steam is one of the dumbest things I ever heard. People act like their $1000 machines can't handle another simple software program.
What's going on.

Can you make Origin start silently? (If you even need it running... ?) It seems all you should need to do is boot up and run BF3. How hard is that?
