New to OCing

Hey guys,

I have been reading this forum for a while, seeing what people advise and what they can get out of their hardware. I am hopefully getting a new build soonish and I am preparing everything before it arrives so I don't have to research when it gets here.

Basically, I have never overclocked - ever. I was wondering if people could perhaps write a quick guide, or things to look out for while doing it. Mistakes I should know not to make before I do.
Where is a good place to start?
What do I need to prepare before I start changing settings?
Which settings should I be changing ?

Like I said I am a complete amateur, and would like some fantastic help. Here is the build I will hopefully be getting soon. I will be wanting to OC to as far as I should go with my knowledge (as far as you advise).

Raven RV03
Asus P8P67 Pro
Intel i5 2500k 3.3
--Antec Kuhl H2O 920
--2x120mm Scythe Gentle Typhoon, 1850rpm (To replace the stock)
Corsair 8gb (2x4gb) 1600mhz CL8 Vengeance
MSI GTX 560 ti Hawk
Corsair AX 750W 80 + GOLD

EDIT: Just to add, I am not a PC novice, I know my way around PCs pretty well, I have just never had the urge to OC, and with this new build I will do.

Thanks in advance!
V

And yea, its hard to know what is right and wrong when you have no idea what all the acronyms mean from the get-go.
