Computer Freezes with loud buzzing noise, HELP!!

My system specs should be listed... I have recently built a computer, getting ready for BF3 and SWTOR. I bought parts and built the computer over about a month and a half's time period. The last thing I bought was the GPU, EVGA GTX 570 Classified (pls don't remind me that it was a waste of money and that I could have easily OC'ed a reference card...). I gradually built the PC as parts came in and never had freezing issues, although, I could never play graphical stressing games either because I didn't have the GPU yet.

I get the GPU in, install it, update to the latest driver 275.33, all that BS. The stock clock is about 822mhz, games (Crysis 2, Witcher 2, WoW) started freezing at random times during gameplay. The picture freezes accompanied with a terrible screeching noise coming from my speakers - no black screen, no BSOD, just frozen picture. To resolve the issue I have to restart the PC. I reduced the clock (MSI afterburner) to about 788mhz and it still freezes. My speakers are hooked up to onboard MOBO soundcard. GPU is hooked up thru HDMI.

Also, i use the OC Genie on my MOBO and it bumps my CPU to 4.2GHz, here are my temps:

CPU idle: averages about 32 C
CPU during gameplay: averages about 55 C

GPU at 788MHz during gameplay: averages about 65 C

I have ran Memtest and found NO errors...

I read somewhere on here on a different thread that GPU factory OCing can sometimes apply insufficient voltages... I'll try this when I get home from work :-D PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks guys

Put everything on stock, run a graphics stress testing program to see if it is the graphics card. If it doesn't freeze then overclock it to the clocks that you get the freezing occurring normally but keep the cpu at stock. This might tell you if it is the overclock or a different problem. Also do the same with the CPU, run cpu stress test on normal clocks and then on you overclock using prime95.

See if that helps

Also what voltage are you running your ram at?

I'll try that. I don't know what the voltages are (i'm a work now), the "OC Genie" takes care of that but i'll definitely check all of that and post the specs for you... Looks like you have the same MOBO, do you use OC Genie?? Also, when I first installed my GPU i ran 3DMark 11 at 822mhz and could never get through the whole benchmark, it would freeze with the irritable noise. It wasn't until I dropped the clocks to 788mhz that the benchmark would complete successfully...

I wouldnt trust oc genie bro- Some of these built OC utilities are more work then just going in old school and doing it all manually in the bios etc.

I don't use oc genie, it applies too much voltage for the overclock it gives you. If your graphics card failed to complete the benchmark at the rated clocks it is supposed to work at then I would say it is probably the problem and would be grounds for a RMA.

Also if it is possible try the card in a different computer and run the same tests.

I would stop with the OC genie.

Describe the noise in more detail: Is it kind of like really loud static or is it a rapidly-repeating loop of the last sound?

It sounds like a buzzer on a clothes dryer or washer lol. It may be a repeating sound, if so, its very fast. And it's always the same sound every time, so I know its not the last sound repeating itself...

Set OC in bios...that Genie feeds your cpu more voltage than necessary.
