^ I can't really play Half Life 2 or anything from the Orange box because of the graphics. I used to care about gameplay and storyline, but for some reason now it seems that it's more about the graphics. I tried playing Half Life 2 and the graphics were annoying me lol... I just ended up going back to my other games.

Thats cuz you dropped all that money into your PC, so if you are the same way as me, you would like to believe it was money well spent.

That's the opposite of me, most of the new games today seem boring to me. I kept coming back to HL1/2 and Diablo 2.

For the time, the graphics were superb and the storyline are great. If you are not a fan of JRPG, then there is not much that can be done.

You didn't finish them did you? You can't in a single weekend.

It depends on your age and what you were doing when FF1 came out for nes. The Final Fantasy series is like a good rock band that started when you were young and each release is like a new album. I hate the new stuff but love the old stuff because I was alive when it was released and there was nothing like it. It was groundbreaking for the time. I saw a comment the other day from a kid who said FF1 wasn't a FF game. He then mentioned he wasn't even born when FF1 came out. I didn't reply to his comment.

Ill admit i wasnt around for FF1-4 the first one i play was FF7 on the PS1(still have my original Disks... all 3)(i even have the box) then i played 9... then 10... CC:FF7 then 12...13.... etc...
I loved 7...but i also loved CC:FF7... its a toss up between them as to which is my favorite...
I am currently replaying CC:FF7... almost to the end...

No, I got to the part where you transform into a Paladin in FF4, just a bit after that.

In FF7 I was only a few hours in, the plate over sector 5 just collapsed.

I was going to continue but all the random encounters were very repetitive and discourage me from exploring cuz they're not fun and they happen so much.

I feel like i gotta go through so many random encounters which are dull to advance the story.

I got tired of the back and forth in towns, maybe these role playing games just aren't for me!

This is why I can't play very many single player games anymore. I grew up playing RPG's and now I can't even go back and play FF IX or the legend of dragoon because the random encounters piss me off. For that time they were great and if you have the patience they are still great, but my gaming style and preference has changed over the years so I can't go back and enjoy them.

If you can, stick with FFIV. The story is A+ imo and it get's better and better as the game progresses. Yes it might feel like a chore at some points in the game but the end result is well worth it .

FFX had the best story, I am in awe of the minds that created it. Aside from that FF games were always original stories not really done before. They also pioneered allot of the RPG mechanics you see in games today.
Random encounters were better in my opinion because you could grind EXP anywhere that suited your level and if you wanted usually there were items to lower the encounter rate or stop it completely later on in the games. I find static encounters that respawn annoying because if you forget something and have to go back you would have to clear it again.

Yeah, midgar can get tedious. But once you get out, story really picks up.
