Which memory should I buy? Pls pick 1 of these 3 :)

Thread Starter
Hi

I have 2x2gb Gskill Ripjaws ddr3 memory right now, and before going to campus I'm going to buy a bit more ram.

First of all a couple of questions:

1. does the other memory have to be same size as the memory I already have? My motherboard supports up to 32gb or something.

2. is it okay if the memory has same specifications but different brand?

Here are the 3 memory units I was interested in. Please help me pick one:

1. this is the same kit I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231277

2. 2x4gb Corsair http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145345

3. 2x4gb Gskill http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231314

Thanks

You can mix ram but it really isn't recommended.Just get a 2x4 kit and call it good.8gb of ram is plenty. If you don't find yourself running out of ram than adding more will do nothing.

I don't think it matters, as the Sandybridge platform will only support Dual Channel memory, thus if someone wants to use four sticks instead of two, theoretically the ram should be identified by the system as two distinct sets of ram, Even if you get a four stick or quad channel pack of memory.

For best results you should stick with the same memory as you have now!

These would be fine, if these are what you already have
