Please Help...Gaming Interest Being Ruined? - Page 2

I have like 20 games in Steam. Out of those games I have only beaten Metro 2033 (last week), MW2 and Borderlands the first time only.... I have just cause 2, GTIV, AvP, Crysis Warhead and others which I have barely put maybe 1 hour into play at most. Sometimes I'm like wanting to play SC2 or BFBC2 and I'm like... I should put some hours into the games I haven't play. With all the thingking I do it just makes me play SC2 or not play at all. Having a lot of games is overwhelming.

Just stop playing for a while and find some other activity or plan some case modding.

This may sound a bit strange, but are there any games from way back in the day (when you first started gaming) that you remember playing for hours and hours and hours? If so, try tracking down some copies and run through them again.

I was having the same problem recently, and what helped me was snagging a bunch of old Star Wars games from Steam during the summer sale (Dark Forces, Jedi Outcast, etc.). I installed old copies of Age of Empires and Morrowind as well, among other things. Playing through those old games that I absolutely loved back then kind of made me remember what exactly I love about PC gaming, and in turn got me excited to tackle the massive backlog of games I've bought but never actually played.

This is what I've found.

I have the same problem, I get REALLY bored with games and often just stop playing them half way through. What I do is go out and do something else for a while and wait for that "itch" to get grow to game. Then I enjoy the game a lot more.

I currently have 425 Albums (11 days) worth of music in iTunes....do I listen to them all?
No.
Is there a need to stop buying more music?
No.
Must I make more time to listen to them all?
No.

I mostly listen to the ones I like the most and occassionly change it up a bit and listen to something else.

I currently have 281 blu rays in my collection.
Have I watched them all?
No.
Should I stop buying blu rays until I've had time to unwrap and watch each of the movies I own?
No

I currenlty have Medal of Honor, Crysis 2, Call of Duty Black Ops, Batman Arkum Asylum, Metro 2033, Borderlands, Portal, Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, GTA IV, and a few other games that I bought on sale and have not finished or never played.
Should I stop buying games?
No.

Just because you dont have time to play them all doesnt mean anything is wrong or needs to change. As you grow up and get a career, a wife, kids, etc....there just isnt going to be enough time, or as much time as we'd prefer, for playing games.

Nothing wrong with having games you hardly ever play.

As you can tell I have no problem or guilt buying more things even though I have plenty of similar things sitting around that I have hardly ever used.

Maybe you need a new hobby or way of spending your time?
I know!!! You probably just need a new/different game! LOL

Been feeling the same way for about the same amount of time. I bought a ton of games on the summer sale and then quickly jumped between a few games and keep getting bored and can't really get into anything anymore. At the moment I'm playing mass effect 2 who knows how long it will last but the only thing I know to do is try to buy something else and see if it will keep hold on my attention. If not maybe I will try the cycle of games to see if it will give me some relief again. The only thing that I have been able to continue playing these days is BC2 so I'm hoping that BF3 will be similarly enjoyable to me

Great topic though OP was wondering if I was the only one feeling this way about gaming

I agree with foxhaze. Games like CSS, Garry's Mod, and TF2 are great games in the first place, then source and gmod both are filled with mods and extra content to keep you busy. No matter how bored I get with gaming I can always go play CSS or Gmod for hours and have a blast.

One game that I began playing lately is Osu! but it's definitely a game specific to certain people but I find it extremely fun. Maybe trying something new and out of the ordinary for a while would be good for you.

oh and about the games from back in the day. I can remember spending HOURS and HOURS (even on school nights) on CIV 1 & 2, Alpha Centuri, C&C 1, Red Alert 1, Wing Commander 1 & 2, Tie Fighter, Mech Warrior 2.

But again, I also was limited based on funds and availability (& hard drive space). I mean if C&C didn't grab me at first. I'd go away for a few days and then realize, I have to play it, because it's the only new thing I have.
