Then I'd wait til spring and consider your GPU upgrade then also. Things will change between now and then (Kepler might be out), so buying a second card now to get no real boost in performance is a waste of time and money (not to mention the increased power consumption & noise).

why by two cards now? why not buy one better card, and then add another down the line?

I think he has 1 card already, and this is down the line...

He already has a 6870, so a 2nd one would be the next upgrade choice. He did ask about a 6950, but the performance difference between a 6870 and 6950 isn't enough to warrant the price premium of upgrading from 1 card to another.

Also, what case do you have?

I would pick the MSI if it were in between the two options.

my case is cooler master haf 912

i've had a 6870 for a while now, and the only reason i got it was with the thought of getting another one down the line and crossfiring it.

As someone else said, you're not going to get a significant boost in performance as your CPU is holding you back. You need an i5-2500K or i7 2600k to truly take advantage of 2 6870s.

Airflow should be fine, so the MSI Twin Frozr 6870 would be fine. The case will have no problems exhausting the heat out of your case.
