[KT] A Deep Look at Modern Warfare 3’s Spec Ops Survival Mode - Page 9

It's not just about graphics, as a game like counterstrike has proven beyond a shadow of doubt. I could use a a few less explosions and effects and a lot more time spent on improving net code and hitboxes, making online play as fair and balanced as possible. That's just me. cod is fun. bf is fun. They may be similar in their cinematic approach (lets be real, cod started that anyway), but they are WORLDS different in their online play. I like them both for different reasons. But, no matter what, if I just want to shoot someone in the face, I load up cs and forget about tesselation and destructible environments and killstreaks and tanks and whatnothaveyous.

If you want a deep look at modern warfare 3, play modern warfare 2.

They are still using id tech 4 though right, they can make improvements in the game but their still using the same engine right? The Doom 3 engine, designed to run on the original xbox, but they use old technology so they can keep 60 fps.

If you have limitations eg. console hardware, it still forces the developers too try and squeeze every last bit of performance they can out of them. But IMO they already got everything they could out of that engine in modern warfare 1. We will probably see a fantastic new COD when the next gen of hardware is released so they can use a more powerful engine and still run at 60 fps. BF3 had too sacrifice 60 fps too have a better looking engine, but its CODs "thing" too keep all of their games at 60 so they didnt really have a choice.

But I dont play on console. This still looks boring, im so excited for BF3. The wait is killing me.

I thought I had pre ordered it about 4 months ago, because it feels like its been that long waiting. But I checked my receipt and it was less then 2 months ago.

EDIT: ill admit i didnt even watch the video before posting this, because I knew what it would look like. I just watched it, and oh my lord its even more of a mw2 clone then I thought. I noticed the hud looked EXACTLY the same. Wow I saw a change though - the killstreak writing comes up in orange! and the kill points come up in GREEN! whoah. Thats amazing.

An even deeper look at modern warfare 3:

It's not bashing for the sake of bashing...I was a huge fan of the original modern warfare. The first FPS i actually played for a long period of time after Counterstrike. If you're telling me that these last few games and their 15 dollar mappacks weren't disappointing....I don't know. And i've played many over the last 15 years.

They did change each game, but for the worse. MW2 was bad, black ops was slightly better. No dedicated servers, rampant cheating, mass noob tubes, mass killstreak spam and all nuketown servers...and mappacks for 15 dollars. Seriously! Blame Kotick, the mass exodus from Infinity Ward, the deadline pressures (I also remember the game came out w/ some major bugs that took a long time to fix)...and ported from the consoles...the UI in the game was TERRIBLE. Trying to navigate the opening menu was just clunky/bad form.

You can say that video games come out w/ huge issues all the time, but this was a very persistent issue that took a very long time to fix (though BFBC2 has some issues too). I switched over to BFBC2 b/c it was on sale for 5 bucks and i was so dissatisfied by the quality of the games put out by activision. Not the graphics, the quality.

Also, the new subscription based service they are talking about implementing, isn't going to convince me to get another game. I'm just waiting until they do it to starcraft....

This was the problem with all the WoW updates too...that were more to milk the fanbase. You end up w/ ridiculous lvl 70 PVP's that take 45 minutes to an hour, even at the professional level (or whatever remains of it).

It's not necessarily b/c the graphics are poor...I play counter-strike still and my black ops and MW2 gather dust....

I will be getting both BF3 and MW3. Idk why youd be so stubborn not to buy both.

We are stubborn because Activision refuse too sacrifice 60 fps for a more powerful engine, and we are stuck the same game 3 times in a row, and paying 1.5x the price of a normal full price game, that is going too charge us even more for any DLC, and lacks anything a PC shooter should have like mod tools and dedicated servers, with boring and stale gameplay because it plays the exact same way as it did back with Modern Warfare 1 (except that had dedicated servers)

Expensive game, which has new maps and a couple of new weapons, and a different colour writing when you get a kill, and a new special ops mode. Hmm. Its a no brainer really.

Of course if you like cod more then battlefield, by all means buy it, im sick of the people who try and play battlefield like its cod (camping recon on the attacking team for rush anyone?) although I do not notice these kind of players in battlefield 2. In battlefield 1942, that used too be amazing because everyone fought for the objective, not for their obsolete k/d ratio.

Not ranting at you, just people in general.

The kind of antics activision pulls will only encourage other companies to follow suit. Like EA BF3 charging for map packs....this kind of stuff used to be free.....

Looks fun, but PLEASE for the love of god, why didn't they try to make the weapon sounds at least a little better? My ears

Hmmm, Looks alright, Like the smoke idea for airstrikes. Will be buying both bf3 and this either way. Will probably play this more though, Just like the playstyle of the Cod series more in general.
