Ivy Bridge supporting 1155 is just pure speculation at this point. For a while 1156 users thought their socket would work with SB.

Even if there might be some compatibility, I'm pretty sure IB will come up with new features only possible on new mobos (since mobo manufacturers also have to make a living ).

If I were you I'd just buy the LGA 2011 CPU coming later this year.

I don't understand why people think it's going to require the most newest hardware to run BF3...

Speculation? It's actually been confirmed, what's not clear is if all motherboard will support it with a bios update or if only some Z68 will, although reports seem to indicate that it won't be Z68 exclusive. And like you said, some features that Ivy Bridge supports such as PCI-Express 3.0 won't be reaped, but the CPU performance gains will still be there.
