wireless repeater?

Thread Starter
I just moved into a new house, and the distance from the router to my living room is quite a bit bigger than before. I can pick up my network with my xbox, but it's not full bars, and seems like it drops out a lot. When I moved in, there was already an ethernet jack that run from the wall of my study to the attic. I was thinking of getting a wireless repeater, putting it in the attic above the miving room, and using the pre-run cord to plug that into my router in the study. Never used one before, so I just wanted to check and see if that makes sense and would work. If so, anyone got any recommendations on a specific model? I've got a belkin 802.11n router, btw

Remember Google=Power

And the repeater should be half way to three quarters of the way between the router and the xbox

Also extenders dont need a cable except for setup. If you want to sue a cable jsut get another access point.

Never put that in the attic.

Attic is very hot.

Hot + electronics = no good

yeah, you're probably right. only reason I said that is because when I was doing all the wiring for my speakers in the attic, I saw the previous owners had one up there already. Only it was an 802.11g, or I'd be using it already

Yes it will work. Look at section 6 on how to extend wireless coverage.
