Laptop for a friend. Very specific around $750

Thread Starter
My friend needs a new laptop for college. Hewants to spend $750 but will spend $800 if needed. He likes the m11x. I showed him that on newegg for the same price he could get a different laptop with better specs. He said thats cool but I want one with blah blah blah.

So here is what he is looking for

<750 if possible <800 if needed

Battery life around or over 8 hours. This probably requires a dual dedicated non dedicated graphics set up.

Also a protection plan would be nice (not included in the $750) and also light up keys would be nice.

There's definitely nothing wrong with an M11x. he's about $1000 away from a dual card setup at that price point. He's looking at maybe an Asus U31SD-A1ish type computer. Has he looked at maybe a 15" 2009 macbook pro? That might be the only option he's got to satisfy the performance of an m11x, battery life of 8+ hours and stay in his price range.

m11x is definitely nice, but I've bought their laptops in the past and I usually advise to stay away. Bought one laptop and went through 2 more through their warranty over 4 years. Not a pleasant experience.

I'm sure they have changed now...but personally 11" is just too small for me.
