Strategy/RTS fingertip mouse with NO JITTER? - Page 2

The steps I like for the adjustable CPI are in between the defaults. Was on the MX518 too.

I appreciate the suggestions offered, and will be going over them more thoroughly later on. I have another week to return the G400. Honestly, if Logitech admitted that there IS a problem and said they're working on it, I'd keep the G400 hands down.

...except that I said in the title and OP that I'm after a fingertip mouse for strategy and RTS use.

How is it hard to fingertip grip a 518/G400 unless you have tiny hands? ;\\ Also the G400 has no jitter issues with setpoint uninstalled on most cloth pads.

MY G400 will track by itself (probably no more than a few units) every 10-30 seconds when placed on my light coloured desk. Be sure to use a dark coloured mousemat.

My G400 tracks by itself on a black cloth mousepad (nothing special) and on a black "optical-grade" mousepad (again, nothing special). I haven't used any name brand mouse pads.

Though, if I use the jeans I'm wearing as a mousepad, it works fine minus the software-induced jitter. Odd.

What dpi you plan on using?

Mico has been working great for me w/ SC2 and the occasional FPS game. I use 800dpi for RTS/MMOs and 400dpi for FPS games.

1000 is the G400 default and is a tiny bit too fast. I'm not at home to check, but I'm pretty sure I set my MX518 to 400, 800, 1200 with 800 being my default.
