Tegra 2 isn't even being fully utilized IMO......just wish there was a more "stable" 3.2 ROM for me to flash onto my transformer as a daily driver
Totally disagree.. I can't even play 1080p mkv's on my transformer.

The q-core t3 will probably be able to handle bluray.

Tegra 3 can handle HDMI mirroring at 2560x1600 resolution, as seen in the demos.

Outputting to a high res. is different. You can't playback video of that quality.

Sample:
1920x1080
24fps
mkv container
6.5mb/s video
dd 5.1 audio

EXTREME LAG and frame drops lol.

do you really need 1080p on a 720p screen? besides.....1080p IMO is too large of a file size and I'd rather watch it on my big screen rather than my tab

720p is plenty engouh for me

only other reason why T2 doesn't play 1080p is it doesn't have NEON instruction sets unlike the exynos and the TI OMAP 4xxx series

Nvidia said Tegra 3 handles high-profile codecs way better than Tegra 2, and it's imbued with NEON support as well. I'm also disappointed at the stuttering in even 720p MKV's on my tablet, but hey quad-core successors will fix this issue.

So what do I do with all the 1080p videos I have. Convert each and every single one to a 720p low bit rate file that isn't even worthy of calling "HD" and play it? Even that doesn't have h/w decoding support with ac3 audio.

Unless you name an app besides dice player?

MX Video Player? It has a codec for optimized Tegra 2 drivers.

Tegra 2 simply has horrible video support. There was a reason why the Boxee dropped it halfway through it's design for an Intel SoC...

MXplayer

high profile 720p works fine
I personally have all my videos in mp4 format

besides.....shouldn't take you too long with your i7

It doesn't take time at all but one thing I have noticed is that 720p mkv at 2mb/s (mpeg4) and 256k ac3 audio doesn't work. Using mx player with h/w results in no audio, while s/w works fine. Only dice player can do it, but for a video player it seems overpriced.
