EDIT: as a matter of fact, I cannot even get Oblivion to load now. Yes I did change the registry to point to D\es\\oblivion\\ Wont load via OBSE, oblivion launcher, and of course Steam.
Above was initially asking why move the file out of STEAM? Since I have I have had problems.

ABove was the reason I was given that I had to move it out of steam.

If I try to open in Steam of course it tells me the game is not available at this time.

Clicking on the OBSE Loader it gives me this error: crc = A2408F04
You are trying to use a Steam version of Oblivion. Steam users should launch the game through Steam, not by running obse_loader.exe. If OBSE fails to load, go to Steam > Settings > In Game and check the box marked "Enable Steam community in game". Please see the instructions in obse_readme.txt for more information.

If I click on the Oblivion Launcher : it will pull up the launcher with sound, but if I click PLAY, it gives me error Application load error 5:0000065434

Sounds like i do have to have it in the new folder due to Wyre Bash, but evidently I have done something wrong. I have no idea what to look for really.
Any help on this? I am dying to play this game and mod it like this thread states, but dang, I cant even get past the first few steps. Anyway I try to load Oblivion, it gives me an error.

Stupid qeustion but have you guys tried disabling all mods you have installed already? Also after moving try deleting your oblivion.ini under my games, open the launcher to regenerate it, close the launcher and manually start the game (without obse at first). See if that helps.

Also im fairly certain the primary reason for moving oblivion is the Windows UAC on Vista and 7. it will block applications from "affecting" the primary game install if its under one of the "program Files" subfolder anywhere (steam is there so). So no technical need to do it on XP... (or if you have UAC Completely disabled, im running oblivion from the base install folder and its fine with bash and OBGE....)

I do not have any mods installed. All i have installed is OBSE. All I have done is move it outside of the Steam folder and cant get it to run. I just moved it all back in the Steam folder, adjusted the registry back and it loaded up fine.

As far as the UAC, my steam is not located in program files at all. I mived it to a different HD and its path is D:\\Steam. Maybe I can leave it in the Steam folder then?

If it loads up fine now with OBSE and bash then leave it where it is. It should be fine especially since its not in the "Default" program files steam entry.

OK cool, it only has OBSE in it rt now but it does load using the steam loader (havent tried others). OBSE states it loads from the normal steam launcher as long as the steam community is available, which it is, so I assume it is working. I will venture further to see what Bash does.

Just a side note OSR seems to be causing alot of crashing for me, particularly in combat. i removed it and the crashing has stopped when spells are being thrown around, at least it seems this way.... I never ran it before so was new to me in OP we shall see later tonight!
