Quote:
The Nikkei business daily reports that LG Display aims to invest $2.8 billion towards 8.5-Gen OLED TV mass production - which will take place in 2H 2014. According to this report, LG Display's plan to start pilot-production of 55" OLED TV panels in 2H 2012 is still on track - and in fact the company plans to sell around 30,000 such TVs in a month.

There's not much info here, but the eagerness for these big oled tvs is so big that it's worth mentioning that they're on there way.

the oled tech is nice for what it does, but i would love to see some innovation back in the plasma field.....too bad all the rumours that sparked up back in the day scared most consumers away from plasma.

OLED should of been the big hype instead of stupid 3D. I'm pretty sure it would of done a much better job of getting adopted.

And taking a look at the Zune HD's screen for example, its tech that just gets better with more development. Its the perfect replacement for Plasma since OLED's blacks are much.... blacker () and don't have burn in problems. The color vibrancy is amazing too.

They don't burn in but the colors degrade at different paces over time. The blue LEDs have a shorter lifespan than the red and green LEDs. As long as the lifespan is significantly long, this won't be an issue. This would be golden for gaming monitors as the response rate is magnitudes lower than LCD technology.
