TBH i couldn't give a toss. It's not eyefinity anyway because two of the monitors are 17" and the other is 22" widescreen. The 17's are the only thing I can fit in my alcove/man den
In short I'm happy to have one or all three VGA if needed

Accell active dvi to dp.

Plug two monitors into the two dvi on the card, use the supplied min-dp to dp and connect that to the Accell adapter, and connect 3rd monitor to Accell adapter. Eyefinity enable.

Ok, so I know the active DP adapter is the EASIEST way, but it also leaves me down $30 and I have to wait a week for it to arrive.

Is there any way to connect 3 monitors without the active adapter? As I said I'm not bothered about HD resolution or digital signal, i will only really be using the 3 monitor setup for browsing and multitasking, I'll still "game" with one monitor.

For those who WANT me to get the active adapter, can you at least tell me WHY it is needed, rather than just saying "get this, it works"

Surely there must be a technical explanation

It doesn't work without the adapter. I learned that the hardway until I was told and read amd's requirement of an active mini-dp/dp adapter. just got run what you got until you can get the adapter.

I could have sworn I seen a way about 6 months ago using one of the monitors as VGA

Just can't find the topic/video now
