Patriot Extreme Performance 8gb: Thoughts?

Has anyone tried this?

Patriot Extreme Performance Xporter XT Rage USB Drive, 8GB

Any thoughts, pro/con? I'm picking up 2 (wanting to).

Uses = Bootable installer with "yumi" to install Multiple windows images, ie.
Win XP Home, Pro, Pro 64bit
Win Vista, Home Pre, Ultimate
Win 7, Starter, Home Pre, Ulti.

I should be able to fit most/all onto a single 8gb, or some form of it.

Also...

Thinking the 2nd use for linux builds.

ie:

Ubuntu 10.10, 11.04,
Knoppix
Redhat
Fedora
Other Editions.

Also, might get a 3rd, but a smaller model perhaps..

For Ultimate CD, hiren's boot cd, etc... All on one mega boot.

Of all the 4-16gb's, this 8gb seems "the fastest". But is it reliable?

I like the 5yr warrenty it defaultly comes with separate from the IPR that is offered by mem ex (local store).

I've got a 4GB Patriot Xporter, and it has lasted me for about 5 years so far, and it's still really fast for a USB 2.0 device. Patriot makes some of the fastest USB drives imho, and I have never had a minutes worth of trouble out of mine. The ONLY con to mine, is it's so wide (completely encased in rubber to protect it from drops, smashing, water, etc...) that it will block other USB ports directly around it, so it's best to use on a front panel port, OR with a small USB extension cable (which came with my Patriot Xporter).

One more thought - it does "choke" somewhat more than most other USB drives if transferring over a large amount of small files (like several hundred word documents! Seriously, that would make most USB drives choke anyway because it takes longer to write the info to the File Allocation Table than it does to actually write the file itself).

I've never tried booting off of mine, but I'd be willing to bet that even after 5 years of some intense abuse, it would still perform as you would expect a USB 2.0 drive to perform for a boot drive.

Hope you find my Patriot fanboy-ism helpful.

Greatly appreciated, and the same goes for xfering 70k files as well. Easier to "zip" them (no compression), and xfer 1 mega file... then unzip after the fact ^_^ . (saved me a few hrs for one usb...lol... old non fast 2.0...)

But most def thanks man, this clears up any chance I had thought it "might" not work out.

I know this is a late reply, but i've tried the 8gb Rage XT, and it's... phefriggenominal... I actually get 5-20 second bursts of 80-90 megaBYTE write speeds and read speeds. Even though it eventually tapers to 25-30megabytes equally each way. But daemn... (In a usb 2.0 spot. Not a mis read, just actually bumps that high when nooooothing else going on). But i've put it in the usb 3.0 spot, and it is like "angels singing".
