How to Connect Identical SSD's

Thread Starter
Background: I have 2 identical Intel X25M 80 GB. SSD's and want to join them to make 160 GB.

Now here's the kicker: One of them has the OS/Programs installed and one of them is newly "erased".

Solution: I know that 2 identical SSD's can be joined via RAID0 (when they are both virgin - bad choice of words?) --- But how do I join 1 SSD with OS/Programs installed and 1 SSD that is "empty"?

Am I being too simple-minded (it has happened on occasion ) to think that I join both SSD's (1 full, 1 empty) in RAID0 and the OS/Programs spread out nicely between the two?

Any other ways?

And NO, I do not want to do a complete reinstall of the OS and Programs.

(Please do not think I am just being lazy in posting this question, but I have been all over the net and can't seem to find a decent and credible answer.)

yep raid 0 is the way i know. which requires a format

or atleast a extra hdd, which can clone your ssd. then your raid and rebuild the image on the hdd to the raided ssd

however i am not sure if that is possible as i have not done it before.

Yes, guys, that sounds perfectly reasonable and a direction to at least explore. I do know that Intel has a "Migration Wizard" for migrating an image from a HDD to the new SSD, but I don't know how simple a matter it is to go from my fully loaded SSD to the HDD.

You know, there are some areas I feel pretty well grounded in but I have been too busy/lazy maybe to have learned and used my Acronis for example. I don't really know anything at all about image backup.

Extra HDD? Oh my, I have more than 10TB.

While I haven't used the Intel Migration Wizard, I have used Casper XP to clone my drive to an external. I then set up the raid and booted off of the external drive and cloned it back to the newly formed Raid and had no problems.
