Both the 990XA and 990FX Sabretooth support SLI and CrossfireX; the 990XA does it at 8x-8x link speed (which will not bottleneck any card unless it is higher than GTX 560/HD 6950 and at very high resolution) and the 990FXA will do 16x-16x or 16x-8x-8x trifire. My recommendation is go with whatever your budget and needs suit you. If you will never use more than 2 cards in SLI or CrossfireX, and won't be running high resolution monitors or high end cards with 6950/GTX 560 Ti power orabove, you will be fine with the GA-990XA-UD3.
You may want to check out the GA-990XA-UD3 owners club that I have created, if you choose that board. I'm about to create an unboxing video of my recently purchased 990XA for everyone
WOW!!! I have a friend!
I'm the friend who can vouch for the Sabertooth.
They improved the 990FX chipset over the 890FX chipset. Like better sata and the SLI code.
DIGI+ VRM can delivery better option on ocing and better options on voltage.
Better heatsink for dissipating heat.
The UEFI BIOS is awesome.
Asus made a name for the Sabertooth on the Intel side as the toughest mobo ever made.
The most awesome thing with this mobo is the 5 years warranty on it.
