Best 24" 120 Hz monitor?

Thread Starter
What's currently the best 120 Hz 24" monitor? (23.6" is acceptable I guess, because it seems like almost every 120 Hz uses that size instead of a true 24")

I'm looking to use it primarily for gaming but I'm definitely not a hardcore gamer.

I'll be powering the monitor with 2x GTX 480 (SLI).

I'd also like to use NVidia 3D Vision but I'm not sure how much 3D gaming that I will do. (some, but probably not a ton) I'll mostly interested in the 120 Hz for smoother motion but I definitely want to at least try the NVidia 3D stuff.

I've also thought about waiting for a monitor with HDMI 1.4a support (as well as 120 Hz input for NVidia 3D but the more I think about it, I probably don't need the HDMI 1.4a support since 3D gaming on the PS3/360 is pretty much a waste)

Not sure which one is the better choice, but keep in mind that when gaming in 3D the refresh rate is capped @ 60Hz.

Yeah, I understand that (120 Hz / 2) but that's only part of the reason I'm looking for a new monitor. I want to enjoy both 120 Hz for 2D and then 60 Hz (again, 120 Hz/2) for 3D.

Thanks for the information though!

Acer GD235H - Decent colors, bad backlight bleeding, bad input lag, bad panel unifomity, overdrive causes oversharpening, but can be turned off via service menu - however, some of your settings will then be reset whenever monitor is turned off and back on.

Alienware AW2310 - Alright input lag @ 13ms, bad backlight bleeding, awesome colors and black levels when using custom rgb preset, but then you're forced to have a slow response time as its overdrive feature is only active while using the gaming or multimedia presets. Those two presets have bad color and even when dynamic contrast is turned off, your brightness still gets autoadjusted.

LG WD263D - Horrible bezel, no backlight bleeding, great input lag, good colors, but its overdrive causes oversharpening and cannot be turned off.

BenQ XL2410T - Minimal backlight bleeding, great input lag @ 5ms, negative ghosting, horrible panel uniformity, bad blacks, bad color.

Don't know enough about the Asus, Planar, or the new Samsungs to comment on them.

I don't think its quite as bad as he made it out to be. All monitors will have a degree of input lag and backlight bleeding. Out of my research for 120 hz surround setup, the alienware is my top choice right now for the way it looks and its performance above the others I have looked at. Read some reviews on them. Many people will swear by the alienware and from what I have seen, it's a really good monitor.

I've heard the Samsung S23A950D 23" monitor has the best color reproduction among the 120hz

Samsungs don't support the Nvidia 3d from what I believe... and something about side-by-side...
with two gtx 480's I would recommend something that natively supports Nvidia 3d Vision for much better support...

I too also am looking at a 120hz monitor and am probably going for this...

I don't know why the Alienware gets such good reviews. That was the exact reason I purchased mine. Got it home only to find out about the slow response time thing. You basically have to choose between good colors and a slow, blurry response time or horrible colors and a fast response time. Awful.
