Best 24" 120 Hz monitor? - Page 2

Well, thats how it is with pretty much any monitor you go to choose. I agree with you completely. I posted a thread about this not too long ago and got a whole bunch of ips people telling me that response time really shouldn't even be payed attention to. The alienware has 3ms it says, but those are never true. Out of everything I have seen on them for gaming, it has some of the best colors below ips and people have said that gaming is just fine on them. I have yet to read a review where any response time or input lag made it in. So far, everything has been good for the alienware monitor. I was originally looking at acer and found bad reviews everywhere for it. After reading this thread I will probably search for more reviews simply to double check before I purchase at the end of the summer.

Styling of the base is a large factor for me as well considering I will be getting 3 of them. I hate those circular bases. If I'm paying for a high quality product, I expect a decent looking base that wont make a surround setup look like crap. lol.

The Alienwares are overrated...the benq is a better choice IMO. People need to learn how to calibrate before jumping to conclusions

Some monitors just look like crap. Those alienwares come out with great reviews, not just by users, but many review sites. Persoanlly, the style of the monitor matters as well. As I said before, I don't want to purchase something that looks so crappy that it would make my surround setup look like crap, but at the same time, the specs do matter.

Alienware AW2310 - Alright input lag @ 13ms, bad backlight bleeding, awesome colors and black levels when using custom rgb preset, but then you're forced to have a slow response time as its overdrive feature is only active while using the gaming or multimedia presets. Those two presets have bad color and even when dynamic contrast is turned off, your brightness still gets autoadjusted.

LG WD263D - Horrible bezel, no backlight bleeding, great input lag, good colors, but its overdrive causes oversharpening and cannot be turned off.

BenQ XL2410T - Minimal backlight bleeding, great input lag @ 5ms, negative ghosting, horrible panel uniformity, bad blacks, bad color.

Don't know enough about the Asus, Planar, or the new Samsungs to comment on them.
LG have poor colors not good, acer and benq much worst, the Alienware u forgot to say that have less banding than averange Tn monitors and have a decent black level.

The best 3D monitor is Planar, if u want glare there's the new Samsung SA750 and 950 that have a very good colors and the glares advantages.

i just got my s23a950d and so far its amazing colors are beast and response time is the best ive seen if u can afford it and want a monitor that looks awsoem and comes ready for non nvidia 3d with glasses right out of the box give it a try.
also does 2d to 3d conversion of anything u want.

$550 on amazon since it comes with the $150 glasses value is pretty good and the panel is incredible.
