Buying a new OS HDD. Assistant would be cool.

I am thinking about purchasing a WD Black for my OS drive, as spending 105 on a 64 GB SSD isnt worth it to me, I would rather spend 50 getting a 500GB WD Black.

I am going to keep my Samsung F3 for storage, but I am most likely going to need to format it as I don't know how much a pain it will be to just uninstall windows from it, while leaving the other files intact.

My main question is how much performance I would lose not buying a 1.5TB+ Black as I have heard alot about how larger drives tend to perform better because of its ability to store more data in less space on the "Platter"

Also, secondary question is how much trouble will removing windows and keeping most of my games/music/movies usable without transferring them off of my lame USB 2.0 WD 1TB Externals

!!EDIT!!
What is the best version of the WD Black to purchase? RE4s? FAEX? ABYX? FBYX?

I would honestly go with some more F3's if you're going to go with a HDD as they almost match the Caviar Blacks at a significantly cheaper price (usually a 1TB is ~ $50 which means you can get Raid0 F3's for the price of a single WD Black)

I will say though, even in Raid0 a 64GB SSD is significantly faster, I switched from Raid0 1TB Caviar Blacks and ~ 25 seconds was cut off of boot time. Raid0 is great for storage now, but if you want fast SSD is the way to go as you don't really need a huge amount of space to install Windows on.

Just my 2 cents

this is true, but over 100 w/ shipping on 64GB of storage isnt for me, i want ssds, but would need gauranteed 128GB to be happy, as I would like to leave 25-35% of it free for performance reasons, and need to store my more demanding games on it, *(World of Tanks, Metro 2033, Just Cause 2, CoD MW, Fall Out: New Vegas + All DLCs)* and Avast not to mention all things required to me to molest my computer properly, CPUz, GPUz, AOD, etc. Also F@H would need to be on it.

I really want SSD, but for the space I would need to be happy with life I would need 100+GB atleast

I know you keep saying you need 100GB at least but just thought id pass this on

Kingston is doing rebates on their SSDs you can pick up a 64GB for about 65 bucks on Newegg. Only until Aug 14 though

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820139415

I saw it for $50 on Amazon and shipped Prime too but i cant find it anymore.
