SR-2 Build; Xeon W versus Xeon X.

Any reason to stay away from the cheaper 6 core Xeon W series chips as opposed to the Xeon X series chips? I know the TDP is higher on the W and they will need better cooling most likely, but for a guy not exactly going for LN2 type benchmarking (I'd be happy with chips @ 4.2ghz stable) does it really matter which Xeons you pick?

Xeon W3670, 3.2ghz = $599

Xeon X5675, 3.06ghz = $1,433

Just help me understand why I'd spend almost $1K more on a chip for nothing but a lower TDP? Especially if I'm water cooling and not looking to hit insane GHz levels...also considering the desktop i7 Hexcore procs all run 130W and not 95W.

The W3670 is a single QPI link chip. As such it cannot be run in a dual config. Also the the qpi speed of the W is rated to 4.8 while the X has to 2 qpi links and qpi speed for 6.4

Not really, the W3680 is unlocked if you want to spend a bit more on it, I payed around $630 for mine on Amazon.
